Reading Software
Read Naturally Software by Read Naturally, Inc. The program is designed to assisted students in improving their reading and comprehension. The key component in the program is teacher modeling, repeating of reading passages, and self-monitoring of progress. Students are able to stop any time during the program and it will save their place. They are unable to advance until completing the requirements set forth by the classroom teacher. In order for students to choose another passage he/she has to have teacher approval. For this part the student reads the passage for one minute and teacher keeps track of errors. Then information is placed into the program were the teacher and student can go over the questions answered and determine if the student should move on to the next section.
Writing Software
Draft:Builder6 by Don Johnston. The software is designed to help student move smoothly for graphic organizer, outline, draft, and even has built in templates. The program is student friendly with audio assistance along the way. The page is divided into two halves with color coordinated for different aspects of the organization. Notes can be transferred over to the draft side for easy corrections and additions. In the end students have a completed paragraph up to an essay in easy to follow format.
Math Software
Smart Tutor by Learning Today is an individual math online program. Each student takes a placement test to see were their strengths and weaknesses are in math. Then the program designs a lessons in which the student must complete. These are the important aspects tutorials, guided practice, timed and graded quizzes to ensure mastery of the concept being taught. The teacher is able to make modifications as needed for their students. The program is online so no software downloading is required.
